In the scope of outreach activities of green.eu / Inno4sd.net project coordinated at UNU-MERIT/UM by Prof. Dr. René Kemp, Dr. Serdar Türkeli attended the first ever Climathon in Brussels, organized by Climate-KIC and InnoEnergy on 28th October 2017, as part of the jury.
The jury composed by Oliver Rapf, Executive Director of Buildings Performance Institute Europe (BPIE); Stéphanie Brochard, Senior Policy Adviser at American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union (AmCham EU) and Serdar Türkeli , United Nations University-MERIT (UNU-MERIT/MGSoG-UM). Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) are supported by European Institute of Innovation & Technology, a body of the European Union.
In Climathon Brussels, six teams spent 24 hours trying to solve the challenge of “Improving energy performance in buildings through an active involvement of citizens”. Teams used Business Model Canvas and Value Propostion Canvas developed by Strategizer to structure their proposals.These structured proposals are then evaluated with respect to four criteria: Climate Impact, Innovation Potential, Feasibility, Team Spirit. Dr. Serdar Turkeli also discussed the international transferability of these technology and knowledge-based solutions to the other parts of the world.
The 1st winning team is #EnergyDoctor will be awarded with an online digital course. They together with the 2nd winning team #PowerFlower will be offered a day of coaching to further develop their interesting proposals.
